Entry #8 : Why Fish Make the Perfect Stress Relievers

We all just naturally think of cats and dogs when we read about pets that help ease stress. But if you are like me their, energy and attention are too intense. That’s when I found the simplicity of fish. I truly believe fish are one of the greatest stress relief pets. You will not necessarily equate fish with relaxing immediately, but once you have had it yourself, I don’t know a more calming companion. Fish possess a serene atmosphere which is associated with few other pets, and in my opinion, they are not being given sufficient recognition for the stress reducing qualities that they possess.

Fish have unique calming effect. Their gentle, soothing movements in the tank have the ability to calm anxiety and bring on relaxation in an instant. Watching fish swim has been shown to lower blood pressure and calm the mind. Also, fish are easy pets to keep, so they are ideal for stress reduction without dealing with other animals requirements, their maintenance gives a sense of calm and focus, giving a relaxing refuge from the chaos of daily existence.

For me, keeping fish has been a stress reducer. They are less demanding than other pets but have soothing effect that is second to none, if you’re swimming in he endless demands of life or just need some peace and quiet in your home, I would highly advise considering fish as pets. Not only will they add a splash of beauty and serenity to your space, but they also offer you a unique type if relaxation that can be hard to find elsewhere. So go ahead, add some fish to your life and let them lead you to the peace you’re looking for. You won’t regret it, I promise.

  1. This blog is really cool, I didn't really look at fish before as a pet that relaxes you or is as fun as cats and dogs. However, looking into it more, I know how awesome and diverse they are in species, colors, and personalities. -Mia R.

  2. This blog is kind of heartfelt to me because I had a betta fish that I swore was the best fish I ever had. Growing up I always had the cheap goldfish that wouldn't last long but my betta fish lasted me a while and I was devastated when it was his time.
